Len Baker has been a partner of Sutter Hill Ventures since 1973. He is currently a director of Corcept Therapeutics, Infomedics, Line 6, Yaolan Ltd. and Youku. In addition, he is responsible for Sutter Hill's investment in Chengwei Ventures, a venture capital firm in Shanghai that Sutter Hill helped start in 1999, and in Golden Gate Capital, a private equity firm in San Francisco that Sutter Hill helped found in 2000.
Mr. Baker earned a BA in mathematics from Yale University in 1964 and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1966. He worked for Cummins Engine Company in London and Columbus, Indiana, and for the Delta Foundation, a community development corporation started by civil rights leaders in Greenville, Mississippi.
Mr. Baker is a trustee of Yale University, where he chairs the Finance Committee and serves on the Investment Committee. He is a board member of Environmental Defense Fund. He is a member of the International Advisory Board and Investment Strategies Committee for the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation and also is a member of Singapore's International Academic Advisory Panel. Additionally, Mr. Baker serves as an advisor on the Packard Foundation Investment Committee and is a member of the Alta Advisers Advisory Board in London. Mr. Baker is a former board member and chair of the finance and academic committees of Sacred Heart School in Atherton, California.
Mr. Baker and his wife, Mary Anne, live in Palo Alto. They have a son and a daughter. |
